Ok, so as I close in on finishing this one up a second time I do have to drop the rating down. Clearly it is a direct rip from Tolkien I still give it a four star rating which is greatness in my opinion. My justification for a 4 star is because 1) The story is written quite well 2) Brooks pulls off plagiarism and got away with it 3) This book sparked a renaissance movement in fantasy writing. It is nowhere near as could as anything Tolkien was able to write, but that does not mean this isn't a good read after all.
Shea Ohmsford, the main character of the story; only descendant of Jerle Shannara ; brother of Flick.
Flick Ohmsford, Shea's brother. Flick is the reluctant hero of this story in my assessment.
Menion Leah, best friend of Shea
Allanon, a Druid and the guide to obtain the sword and defeat Brona
Balinor Buckhannah, Commander of the Border Legion
Hendel, a dwarf fighter that aids the team along the way.
Panamon Creel, bad ass bandit.
Keltset Mallicos, a troll and best friend, companion, lover of Panamon Creel
Brona (the Warlock Lord), a former Druid and the bad guy of the story.
Orl Fane, an exact replica of Gollum. Driven insane by the lust of the sword.
