What a great twisting tale. From the idiot king, to Nine fingers, to Feddo, to Dogman, to Jezal, to the first of the Magi. Not sure where the boat is taking us all but I am definitely enjoying the journey. It has been a long time since I have read a true 5 star.
Great plot, indepth persona on several of the characters, unique non sequential twisting of one chapter to the next. When things are having in different regions you have no idea of chronological events,in this case, it works magnificently. Joe Abercrombie is a fine story teller and just sit down and listen to him weave this one. His writing style isn't a Clive Barker. Nor is he Hemingway. I certainly don't think anyone is going to get him confused with China Mieville either. What I like about Abercrombie's writing style is that he doesn't write down to young adults nor does he write like a literary professor either. He has a good written voice not to fast, not to slow, not to complex, and not to simple.
What more can I say?
